Hope Solo pleads guilty to driving while intoxicated

Hope Solo, U.S. soccer superstar, has pleaded guilty at the trial to driving while impaired. A judge in Forsyth County gave the 23-year-old suspended sentences, an active sentence of 30 days, and a substance abuse assessment. Solo was awarded credit by the judge, for the time she spent at a rehabilitation center. The sentence includes a $2,500 penalty and the requirement for Solo to complete an assessment on substance abuse.

Hope Solo, a mother of two, has been featured in several news stories following her arrest at the Walmart parking lot near Winston-Salem in North Carolina. The mother of two was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. These charges were added to the misdemeanor child abuse. Hope Solo was seen lying on the driver's side seat by a witness. The officers pulled Solo over. Solo and her 2 children were lying in the backseat.


She was charged misdemeanor with child abuse

Hope Solo, former goalkeeper for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team, was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), resisting police arrest and misdemeanor abuse of children. Further investigation revealed that Solo was also charged for misdemeanor abuse of children. Solo's involvement in domestic violence was one of the reasons Solo was charged by police.

In 2016, she was expelled from the Women's National Team.

Hope Solo, a former U.S. Women's National Team Member, was suspended from the team for 30 days in 2016, after she was charged with two counts of domestic abuse in 2014. This was caused by an altercation with her half sister and her 17 year-old nephew. She will be eligible to participate in the USWNT's February match again. Solo was recently reported to have a drinking problem. She was also intoxicated while driving in an American soccer van.

Despite her plea of not guilty, she was eventually acquitted due to procedural violations. Kirkland dropped domestic abuse charges against Solo earlier in the year. Meanwhile, Solo denied all accusations.
