The United States women’s team in soccer is one of the most popular teams in international women’s soccer. They've won four Women's World Cup titles, four Olympic gold medals, and nine CONCACAF Gold Cups. Morgan, Lloyd and Alyssa Thompson are just a few of the most prominent players on the roster.

Alex Morgan is out of the two friendlies against England & Spain because of injury. VlatkoAndonovski, USWNT coach, has released the 24-player roster for two international games. The matches are set for Oct. 7 in London and Oct. 14 in Pamplona, Spain. Both teams qualify for the 2023 World Cup, Australia.

Carli Lloyd

Carli Lloyd is one of the top goal scorers in US women's soccer history. She has earned three14 caps for USWNT. She can also earn more if her team plays both South Korean friendlies. Her career isn't without controversy. She has split from James Galanis, her longtime trainer, as well as a major injury. She is also the highest-paid player in the women's game.

Alyssa Thompson

Among the top young American players, Alyssa Thompson has the ability to stand out as one of the brightest prospects. She has the technical control and speed to defeat defenders in one on one duels. Tracey Kines, the head coach of US women's under-20 national team, saw her potential. Kevins recalls Thompson at 13 years old, when she was scouting Southern California clubs. She met a forward who was "brave", and "resilient" on that field. Today, Thompson is a member of the US women's national team.


Tobin Heatingh

Tobin Heath, a forward, was recently selected for the US women's soccer team roster. She is an outstanding player who has represented the North Carolina Tar Heels as well as the United States national soccer team. United States Soccer Federation calls Heath "perhaps the USA’s most talented player". US Soccer named her Athlete-of-the Year in 2016.

Hope Solo

Hope Solo is a controversial figure in women's soccer, with a complex legacy. Solo is one of the most accomplished goalkeepers, having made 202 appearances on the U.S. soccer team, and holding a record for keeping 152 clean sheets. Solo is also well-known for her controversial opinions.

Tobin Naeher

The United States women’s soccer team is now in the final stages for their World Cup qualification campaign. Tobin Nasser was a surprise choice, but she has proved to be a valuable part of the team. She played every minute of the match and made four saves against France in the 2-1 win. Naeher also stopped Steph Houghton from trying to make a penalty kick save in semifinals.

Canadian players accused Christiana Pedersen (referee) of bias following a recent controversy in the US women’s soccer match against Canada. The Canadians were upset after Pedersen awarded a penalty to the United States in the 80th minute for holding the ball in the penalty area. Pedersen, a former World Cup referee was not immediately available to comment.

Megan Rapinoe

Megan Rapinoe has been an unwavering presence for the United States Women's National Team for over a decade. She is an outstanding forward on and off the pitch. She was born in Redding and grew up playing volleyball with her older brother, twin sister, and younger brother. In recent years, Rapinoe has delivered big time for the United States, netting two goals in the 2012 World Cup and another in the 2015 World Cup.
