Megan Rapinoe, was born in Redding (California). Her twin sister Rachel is her older brother. Brian introduced her to football. Megan and Rachel have always been fans of the sport, and Megan plays for most of her father's teams. She also plays for Elk Grove United Pride, a club football team south of Sacramento. Rapinoe was an advocate for gender equality and rights of LGBTQ persons.

While playing for the University of Portland, Rapinoe also played for the U.S. women's national team's under-17 youth team. After winning her first Gold Medal, she joined U.S. women’s team. She was later called up and allowed to play on the U-19 team.

Rapinoe was made gay by her teammates on the women's international team. She learned about slavery in America's history and became a vocal advocate. Rapinoe, who was co-hosting ESPN Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, wore a Black Lives Matter shirt after George Floyd's murder.

She is engaged to Sera Cahoone, a singer-songwriter

The USWNT World Cup champion and the singer/songwriter got engaged. Rapinoe asked Sera Cahoone, her singer-songwriter fiancée, to marry her. They have been dating for almost two years. Sera Cahoone is an Seattle singer-songwriter who was previously engaged with US soccer star Carli Lloyd.

The couple met in 2013, while Sera Cahoone was playing in the band Carissa's Weird. Later, Sera was a member of the band Carissa's weird. She went on to form Panda and Angel. Her first solo album was released in 2006. The Stranger loved her debut album and soon signed to Sub Pop Records. Sera and Megan split in 2017, after which Sera continued to grow as a musician.
