The Wave lost to the Kansas City Current 2-1 on Sunday. Amirah Ali scored Wave’s goal in the 88th minutes. Makenzy Doniak assisted Ali. Kansas City took the lead in the 27th minute on a penalty kick by CeCe Kizer.

Alyssa Mutz has resigned from the league

Alyssa Makutz announced on Tuesday that she was leaving the NWSL and said it was time to move forward. The Chicago Red Stars midfielder had played for the team since 2003 and announced her retirement prior to Wednesday's game. The move is expected to create a void in the league, which has struggled with transfer activity in recent seasons. Alyssa Mautz was league's top scorer with 16 goals and 8 assists during her 10-year career.
