Sports media can be a difficult world for women. They are often ridiculed for their looks. However, some have broken through this glass ceiling. Trailblazers such as ESPN's Linda Cohn have paved the way. Since being hired in 1992, Cohn has evolved into one of the network's most versatile personalities.

Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick, a NASCAR race driver, is an award-winning driver. She has won multiple championships and was named the sport's most popular driver several times. Outside of her racing career, Danica is a fitness enthusiast and philanthropist. Her attractive personality and fit body have won her many loyal fans.

Although Patrick began her career as a kart driver, she quickly advanced to the sport of racing. In 2005, she was the youngest person to win Indianapolis 500. She remains the only female driver who has won the IndyCar Series. She still breaks female sports records to this day.

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn, a well-known skier who is also a world-class athlete, is well-known. She is among the most decorated women in the history the sport. She has won many world titles, including the downhill world championships, three world championships in a row, and the overall world cup championship. She is also an example for women in sport.

Lindsey Vonn, who was born in Minnesota, began skiing early. At the age of seven, she began competing in races and later made it to international competitions. She competed in World Junior Championships, World Cup events, becoming a World Cup champ in 2004. Vonn went on to win the overall World Cup title in 2008 and again in 2010.

Michelle Kwan

Michelle Kwan's interest in figure skating began at a young age. At the age of five, she followed her older sister on the ice and fell in love with it. Danny and Estella Kwan, her parents, were immigrants from Hong Kong, China. The Kwans first met at a school reunion. Her father was a telephone company worker, and her mother ran Torrance's Golden Pheasant in California. Michelle started serious training at age eight. She would work for three to four hours a day. Her family was unable to afford the time commitment.


Kwan hired Rafael Arutyunyan in 2003 as her coach. The pair skated to "The Feeling Begins," for the short program, as well as "Tosca" (for the long program). Kwan tied Maribel Vison-Owen’s record for U.S. women’s figure skaters with nine titles at U.S. Championships. Kwan qualified the next year for the Olympic Games at Turin, Italy. There, she was judged differently. However, at the World Championships, Kwan fell on a triple salchow and two-footed a triple lutz.

Cari Champion

Cari Champ, a prominent broadcast journalist is well-known in the world of sports. She anchors ESPN's noon edition and hosts the Be Honest With Cari Champion podcast. Her extensive knowledge of sports comes from her experience working in broadcast journalism at several networks. She will be speaking on the 2019 program track, "Pushing the Limits in Human Performance".

Cari Champion grew up in Pasadena, California, and attended UCLA. One older brother and one younger sister are her siblings. She has not yet been married and is not currently involved in a public affair.

Li Na

Li Na, a famous Chinese tennis player, is Li Na. She was born to an athlete's daughter and rose from humble beginnings. Now, she is one of the world's best tennis players and one of the richest women. Most of her Chinese compatriots hadn't seen her play before her fame.

She is known for her self-confidence, and her ability to inspire young Chinese. She isn't limited to the world of sports. Li Na is also a prominent cultural entrepreneur, and her influence extends beyond sports.
