Uhlaender is among the most honest and sincere athletes. Few athletes are as honest about their disappointments. It is admirable for a woman to maintain such calm. This is a valuable trait not only for her athletic performance but also for all of us. We will be taking a look at some of her accomplishments in different types of sliding. We also have information about Chen (the top female speed skater) and Shiffrin (the top female skier in slalom).
Uhlaender is American's only woman who has won a medal in five of the sliding sports
Katie Uhlaender from Central Texas is 37 and has dedicated her career to the sport. She's one of four Team USA members qualified to compete at her fifth Winter Olympics. The skeleton competition combines speed and strength. Uhlaender has participated in five Winter Olympics. This makes her one of only a few women who have been able to win a medal in that sport. Although her quest to compete at her fifth Olympics was nearly derailed by the emergence of COVID, she is the only American woman to have competed in five sliding events at the Winter Olympics.
Mazdzer is American man who has won a medal in a single luge
Alex Mazdzer earned a Silver Medal in PyeongChang. That is the highest medal ever won by an American man in single lame at an Olympic Games. Although Mazdzer wasn't expected to win a medal at PyeongChang this year, his performance was the best in USA Luge history. Although he was not the favorite this year he is confident that his four runs in PyeongChang will be clean. Mazdzer has won medals in four of the last years by relying on his mental side.
Shiffrin, the female slalom champion, is Shiffrin
Despite being young and performing poorly in the Super-G competition, Mikaela shiffrin is already a well-known name in the sport. In the opening round against Slovakia, Shiffrin took the top spot and completed her first slalom run. Unfortunately, she was not able to make it to the top in the two races against Germany Italy Norway. She finished all three races, and she congratulated her team. In her Olympic debut, she became the second woman in history to compete in all six Alpine events, a feat she shared with Czech Republic's Petra Vlhova in 2018.
