Sue Bird, a Chicago Bulls' guard, has been elected co-captain on the WNBA All-Star Team. Breanna Stewart, Sylvia Fowles and Sue Bird will all be playing in their final WNBA seasons. The game will be played on Sunday, July 10, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The broadcast will be carried on ABC.
Sue Bird was selected for the eighth All-Star Game and Sylvia Fowles, the 13th All-Star Game. Fowles did a breakaway dunk that got the crowd up and dancing during the first part of the game. After the game, Sue Bird and Fowles were recognized and given a standing ovation.
Arike Ogunbowale
Arike Ogunbowale, a two-time NCAA champion, has earned her first WNBA All-Star selection. She was the league's top scorer last season, and she is currently eighth in points per match for the Dallas Wings. She is expected to be an important part of Team USA's preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The WNBA All-Star Game will be held in Chicago July 9-10. The Saturday night event will feature special events by the WNBA, such as a skills competition or a three-point contest. Her MVP trophy, however, was dwarfed by the NBA's Kobe Bryant's All-Star MVP trophy. Cathy Engelbert from the WNBA brought humor to proceedings and presented Plum with a trophy.
Plum stated that she was looking to win MVP. She made 12 field goals in the game and took 18 shots, which was an All-Star record. At the moment she averages 19.9 per game. She is currently playing in the WNBA All Star Game and representing the United States at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 3x3 basketball.
Arike Ogunbowale wins MVP
Arike Ogunbowale won the MVP award in the WNBA all star game. The Dallas guard played college basketball at Notre Dame. She was the fifth overall pick at the WNBA draft. Vanessa Bryant, Vanessa Bryant's mother, was a fan. Her family voted her in, so this is an extra special award.
The 2021 WNBA All-Star Game saw a lot of changes, but the game still remains an all-star event. Ogunbowale was one of the lone WNBA player to win MVP honors, beating Team USA in the matchup by 93-85. Ogunbowale also has the chance to do the same feat again in two years since she was named a reserve for the 2022 WNBA all-star game. The game will be played in Chicago and will air on ABC.
