Tina Estrada, Coach at San Jose State, and her women's soccer team have been on a roll. This article will discuss Estrada's career and the Spartans recent success. We also address the university's mental-health resources for student athletes.
Estrada's success
Hanson is a distant cousin of Estrada, who in 2017 became the assistant coach of San Jose State's women’s soccer team. She was an All American college soccer player. Estrada was a three time all-WCC forward at Santa Clara and played in four NCAA Tournaments. She was the NSCAA Assistant Coaches of the Year for 2015.
Estrada is from Fremont, Calif. Estrada now lives in Walnut Creek. Her teams won five consecutive conference tournaments. She also coached the Spartans into two NCAA Tournaments.

SJSU's recent successes
Numerous players have been responsible for recent success in women's soccer at SJSU. Most notable was Dorthe hoppius, who was named the team's MVP. But, she will not return as a Spartan for the 2018 season. Also on the team, sophomore Jamilecxth Becerra was named Mountain West Newcomer of the Year after netting seven goals, including five game-winning ones. Darriell F. Franklin was named MW defensive play of the Year and made the All-MW team.
This success has also been attributed to new facilities for the Spartans. Spartan Beach and Spartan Baseball Practice Facility are recent additions. In addition to these two facilities the Spartans plan to open their Spartan Athletics Center in the next year.
Tina Estrada's professional career
Estrada has been serving as the interim head coach of the San Jose State women's soccer team for the past two months. She has been a Spartans assistant for four years and was most recently an Associate Head Coach. Lauren Hanson resigned after eight years. She was replaced by her on February 1. Hanson was the school's winningest coach.
Estrada was an outstanding Santa Clara University player and was a great assistant and head coach for many programs. She has the potential to become one among the most exciting young head coaches for women's division one soccer. Estrada has a strong teaching ability, is extremely communicative, and has excellent leadership skills.

SJSU's mental healthcare resources for student athletes
SJSU student athletes have several mental health resources. Many resources are targeted at athletes' needs. Support for Sport is a resource that helps athletes connect with mental health professionals and share their concerns with others. LGBTQ+ support includes stories and perspectives of being gay or lesbian in sport. ULIFELINE has college mental health resources that are also helpful. Counseling Services offers student-athletes a self-help resource page. Finally, Health and Wellness Education has a website that contains a wide variety of information on mental health topics.
SJSU's Counseling and Psychological Services provides quality services to students. The department examines every individual to determine if they are ready to be productive members in society. The third floor of Student Wellness Center houses the department, which offers counseling on a range of issues.
